Description
The goal of this challenge is to design a high quality user interface (UI) of a store that creators can insert into their game for a professional looking store. This is a graphical design project, and no coding is required. Creators will be responsible for adding their own code to make the store functional.
Ideas
Stores In Other Games
For ideas and inspiration, take a look at the stores in popular games on PC and mobile platforms. Take note of the art style, images, fonts, text size, line height, padding, margins, white space, and UI elements. Also note how the categories and products are displayed, as well as the design of featured pages and promotions.
Store Components
Consider designing elements for the various components that make up a store, such as:
- Product Categories
- Product Grid
- Product Detail
- Featured Items
- Special Promotions
- Purchase Complete
- Store Buttons (Buy, View, Prev, Next, etc)
- Callout Badges (New, Most Popular, Best Selling, etc)
- Window Design
- Window Close Box
- Panel Design
Render To Texture
A new feature in Core which is perfect for displaying product images. This feature allows creators to render images from in-game objects. These rendered images can then be applied to UIImage components in the UI.
White Space
Professional GUIs use white space to make the design look clean and uncluttered. Many game companies define guidelines for the minimum amount of padding and margins between elements. This is especially important for buttons and panels with text, so the text does not look too crowded.
Requirements
-
Design the user interface for a store with as many of the above features as possible.
-
All UI elements should be shown in sample layouts as in a real store. Use groups and visibility to allow creators to easily view each layout.
