Description

In general, one of our main objectives is to create more tutorials about scripting in Core. For this challenge, create a tutorial about scripting that is designed for the intermediate skill level. This is intended for creators that are familiar with writing scripts, but are looking for more knowledge about programming for game development, and specifically for coding game functionality.

Topics

It is up to you to decide on which scripting topic to cover in your tutorial. Try to choose a topic that you think would be beneficial for creators in Core.

Practical
It is helpful if the tutorial covers concepts that are actually useful in real game development. A lot can be learned from a tutorial that shows how to do something useful, and that can be used in an actual game. Avoid creating something that is of little practical value.

Code Examples
Include code examples to explain programming steps. The code should be clear, have well named variables, and should include comments to explain the logic.

Code Explanation
Explain the code thoroughly in the text. Cover sections of code step by step, and show code excerpts during the explanation.

Contexts
Please explain the context (Client Context, Server Context, etc) that each script uses, and why that context was chosen.

Downloadable Project
Provide all the scripts for users to download in Community Content or an editable public game.

Requirements

  • Publish a written and/or video tutorial on this topic to the Core forums as per the instructions in your application acceptance message.

  • Provide tutorial assets (models, scripts, UI, etc) in Community Content or an editable public game, and include a link within the tutorial. This allows creators to open the final project in Core.

  • Video tutorials must have voice overs in English.
