Description
With the release of the new vehicle system in Core, it is time to build some awesome vehicles! The goal of this Challenge is to create land based functional vehicles that creators can quickly add to their game.
The great thing about vehicles is that almost any game in a modern setting can use them. Vehicles can be used as either the main focus, or as secondary elements. For this Challenge, design any type of vehicle that you want to! Some ideas include:
- Race Cars
- Race Karts
- Muscle Cars
- Passenger Cars
- SUVs
- Pickup Trucks
- Police Cars
- Fire Trucks
- Ambulances
- Vans
- Taxis
- Passenger Buses
- School Buses
- Cargo Trucks
- Delivery Trucks
- Ice Cream Trucks
- Construction Vehicles
- Farm Vehicles
- Military Vehicles
- Vintage Vehicles
- Sci-Fi Vehicles
- Mad Max Vehicles
- Steampunk Vehicles
- Cartoon Vehicles
- ATVs & RTVs
No Programming Required
The new vehicle system is very easy to use and no programming is required.
-
To see sample vehicles in the Core editor, go to GAME OBJECTS: Game Components: Vehicles. The basic vehicles are the easiest to understand. The ClientContect folder contains the vehicle geometry and the wheel geometry. The properties handle everything else!
-
To make your own vehicle in the Core editor, go to GAME OBJECTS: Gameplay Objects and drag the Four Wheeled Vehicle object into your hierarchy. Then within the ClientContext folder add the vehicle geometry and the four individual wheels. Then just go to the Wheels property of the Four Wheeled Vehicle object and hook up the Front Left Wheel property to the front left wheel geometry. Hook up the other wheels similarly.
-
You can also create treaded vehicles using the Treaded Vehicle Gameplay Object.
