Game Events are a new system in Core which allows creators to publish events about their game. Players can view and RSVP to these events within the Core client.
The goal of this tutorial is to teach creators how to use the Game Events system. The focus is on providing practical code examples of common and useful tasks associated with Game Events. This is intended for creators that are familiar with writing scripts and coding in Core.
Some of the topics to consider for your tutorial are listed below.
Provide practical examples of what the Game Events API can do. Include common tasks related to events, as well as other practical tasks. The goal is to provide a library of code for the most common and useful tasks related to Game Events.
Include code examples to explain programming steps. The code should be clear, have well named variables, and should include comments to explain the logic.
Explain the code thoroughly in the text. Cover sections of code step by step, and show code excerpts during the explanation.
Please explain the context (Client Context, Server Context, etc) that each script uses, and why that context was chosen.
Provide all the scripts for users to download in Community Content or an editable public game.
Publish a written and/or video tutorial on this topic to the Core forums as per the instructions in your application acceptance message.
Provide tutorial assets (models, scripts, UI, etc) in Community Content or an editable public game, and include a link within the tutorial. This allows creators to open the final project in Core.
Video tutorials must have voice overs in English.
Your work will be judged based on the Judging Criteria.
