Major Release: Perks Monetization

Creators in the Perks Program (formerly the Creator Payouts Pilot Program) can now add Perks to their games. Perks provide high-performing creators with the ability to monetize their games and get paid through buyback of their Earned Credits! Creators must be a member of the Perks Program in order to add monetization features to their games and be eligible for Earned Credit buyback.

Platform

  • New: In-game ESC menu will now show your current credit balance.
  • New: Added 2 new stances to human animated meshes: "unarmed_crouch_idle_relaxed" and "unarmed_crouch_run_forward".
  • New: The script debugger now displays Lua metatables.
  • New: The client start page has a new coat of paint! You’ll notice a variety of small visual improvements and adjustments.
  • New: Added a preview play button to Smart Audio Assets when browsing within the Core Content Library. Smart Audio Assets with multiple drop-down "Type" variations will preview play the default option.
  • Fixed a bug where Asset Reference custom property lists would be getting cut off on 4k monitors.
  • Fixed a bug where the Hierarchy would display the wrong name after undoing a rename.
  • Fixed an issue where copy/paste or duplicate could put the creator in a bad state.
  • Fixed a crash when modifying destroyed objects from Lua.
  • Fixed a rare crash when browsing games on the "Play" tab.
  • Fixed a crash that can occur when undoing an object deletion.
  • Fixed a crash that can occur while deleting community content folders from your project in Project Content.
  • Fixed not restoring game focus in certain scenarios when leaving chat.
  • Fixed the caret sometimes missing when refocusing chat.
  • Fixed scripting errors when leaving a game.
  • Fixed a crash when block un-indenting in the script editor.
  • Changed: Script debugger automatically pauses after 15 seconds of uninterrupted script execution in editor.
  • Changed: Maximum chat width increased from 450 to 800.
  • Changed: In games that are render thread bound, framerate will be up to 20% higher.
  • Changed: The Core Shop has been updated with a new formula for Core Credits and Cosmetics prices, for more details see the help center.

Known Issues

  • Core Content - Objects that use debris physics are stuttering when moved via script-
    • Workaround: Disable debris physics while animating and re-enable it at the end. This might be automated later as a fix

API

  • Added support for NetReferences to be used as table keys in Lua.
  • Updated tostring metamethod for NetReferences to print the reference's name if available.
  • Added a new ComputeApproximateSize() function to UIText that attempts to determine the size of the rendered block of text.

Core Content

  • Updated collision for "Door Shopfront 01 Mainstreet" - collision now more accurately matches the large opening where glass is meant to go.

Templates

  • Improved Advanced Assault Rifle and Basic Assault Rifle fire rate power.
  • Advanced Weapon Changes:
    • Added basic recoil to gun type weapons.
    • Added bullet shell drop effects.
    • Changed weapon's scripts structure.
    • Fixed the issue where some spawned reloading audio stayed in hierarchy.
    • Other minor optimizations, audio improvements and bug fixes.
  • Weapons Changes:
    • Added recoil recovery to recoil script in Advanced Weapons.
    • Projectile radius on all weapons are more precise.
    • Sniper Rifle is updated with new scope.

Audio

  • Fixed an issue where "Metal Gear Belt Movement 01 SFX" had an empty variation.
  • Fixed an issue where some armor hits and melee weapon sounds were unaffected by the audio settings sliders in the options menu.
  • Fixed asset name format/typos:
    • "Gunshot Large Machine Gun LMG Set 01 SFX" -> "Gunshot Light Machine Gun LMG Set 01 SFX".

    • When enabled, you can adjust the max radius for close, medium and far range sounds. Additionally you will now be able to change the sound types and mix of the gunshot sounds to achieve your own unique sounds of the gunshot at varying distances.
    • The default settings allow for current games that use these assets to still have the same dynamic distant sound features, however we recommend taking a second listen to your custom weapon sounds to ensure that everything sounds as desired.
