Highlights for Version 1.0.163

Platform

  • New: Templates can now be stored and shared as PNGs! Yup, you heard that right, you can store a template definition in a screenshot of itself.
    • To create one, right click on a template in the My Templates section of the editor and choose "Export as png". It will ask you if you want to take a new screenshot.
    • If you take a new screenshot, it will use that (and pop open a Windows Explore folder to show the created PNG).
    • If you choose no, you can choose an existing screenshot to use for the template (and will pop open a Windows Explore folder to show the created PNG).
    • Once you have a PNG that contains a template, you can simply drag it from your Windows folder into the "My Templates" section of your project.
    • Now you can easily share templates with other users by just sending them a picture of it! (Please note that it won’t work if the image is uploaded to Imgur/Twitter or other services that strip metadata from images. Discord will work)
  • New: Added a profiler field for showing the average incoming bytes on the client, which signals when the server might be nearing or exceeding the bandwidth limit.
  • New: The new "New items" badge is now animated, very new, much animated.
  • New: The 'View' menu has been renamed to 'Window'. In addition, open tabs will now have a checkmark by their name in the Window menu.
  • New: In the Shared Storage tab, add an option to show local saved data in the explorer.
  • New: Added new "Continue Play While Silent" parameter for all Music Set and Music Section Construction Kit assets;
    • When enabled, the selected music track will continue to play even while silent. The default setting is set to off/false and will have to be enabled if you wish to use this new feature in current games.
  • New: Deleting anything from "Project Content" that is still being referenced elsewhere should always show a relevant warning dialog now about the effects of deleting.
  • New: We added some multiplayer preview settings to set the graphics quality/resolution/position of preview windows.
  • New: Changing VSync settings now warns user that a restart is required to see the effects.
  • Fix: We no longer delete your .luacheckrc file when saving, sorry about that!
  • Fix: Fixed a crash when changing key bindings in editor while multiplayer preview is running.
  • Fix: Fixed an issue where removed friends or ignored invites would show up again if you went into a game and returned.
  • Fix: Failed scripts events being counted towards rate limiting.
  • Fix: Fixed a bug in auto reload issue with advanced weapons.
  • Fix: Camera spinning issue in top down frameworks.
  • Fix: Fixed a bug with winning condition in gun game.
  • Change: The pending invites list in the "Social Panel" will now show a max of 3 pending invites. If you have more, there is a "Show More" button you can use to toggle more/less.
  • Change: Updated the Performance Estimation Panel to report worst case estimation instead of average.

API

  • New: Added a referenceType property to the NetReference type that returns a NetReferenceType enum.
  • Fix: Fixed a small memory leak when calling WaitForObject() on a reference to an object that never appears.
