Description

Core recently introduced a new example project called Gatherables and Inventory, which allows players to gather or harvest things, and store them in a simple inventory. Common examples include gathering wood by chopping down trees, gathering ore by mining rocks, or gathering items by hand.

Since the system is so new, we want to let creators know more about it. The goal of this tutorial is to teach players all about the Gatherables and Inventory system.

Topics

Some of the topics to consider for your tutorial are listed below.

Example Project
The example project can be loaded in the Core editor by selecting Create New, and then choosing Example Projects > Gatherables and Inventory. Note that there are two scenes in the project. Use the Scenes tab to view and open the scenes.

About
Provide an overview of the Gatherables and Inventory system, and describe the main types of tasks it is designed to handle.

How To Use
Explain how to use the system to perform common tasks such as gathering resources with tools or by hand. The example project has many example use cases that you can describe in more detail. Consider talking about additional common tasks that are not covered in the example project.

How To Customize
Creators will want to know how to customize various aspects of the system for their own game. For example, how can the geometry, special effects, or reward be changed? Basically, explain how all the various elements can be customized.

Implementing
Describe what steps are necessary to integrate this system into a game. What needs to be copied over from the example project into the game?
