Description

Design at least 5 buildings, exteriors only, with a science fiction theme. The buildings should be suited for games with a modern or futuristic theme. The goal is to create a collection of pre-built buildings that developers can use to quickly create sci-fi scenes in their game.

For inspiration take a look at sci-fi PC games and mobile games, including city simulation games. Game footage can be viewed on YouTube, Twitch, and Steam. The great thing about science fiction is that you can let your imagination run wild in designing cool stuff! Think about all the great shows, movies, and books about sci-fi, and all the futuristic details that make this genre so fascinating.

Core Editor

The Core editor has many objects that you can use to build your sci-fi buildings.

  • Lighting can have a dramatic impact. Consider adding accent lighting to the interior and exterior of your buildings, as well as actual light sources such as light fixtures.

  • The 3D objects library includes sci-fi tilesets and objects.

  • The effects library and the materials library can be used to add futuristic effects.

  • The audio library can be used to add ambient or moving sounds.

  • Animation can be added using the pre-built Object Mover and Object Rotator game components. No scripting is required.

  • You may also get some ideas from Creating Magic With VFX.

Notes

  • Each building should be in a separate group so that other developers can easily drag individual buildings around.

  • Performance is very important for this project. Please follow best practices such as using Merged Models, using groups instead of folders, and keeping the object count reasonable.

  • Please review the content best practices.

Requirements

  • Design a minimum of 5 buildings.

  • Only building exteriors are required.

  • This project should be submitted as a complete scene in which all the buildings are arranged in a sample setting.
